Don Bosco Magnet
Giovanni Melchior Bosco, also known as Saint John Bosco, was an Italian Catholic priest, born on August 16, 1815 and died on January 31, 1888. From an early age he wanted to be a priest and, despite his difficult childhood, he managed to realize his dream. His mother, Margaret, who had been widowed when he was only two years old, influenced him to follow a humble and prayerful life. Don Bosco became a man of work and prayer, devoted to Our Lady Help of Christians and very dedicated to the most disadvantaged young people. He was a "Father and Teacher of Youth", as Saint John Paul II called him. He founded the Congregation of the Salesians, dedicated to the protection of Saint Francis de Sales, to help young people. He was proclaimed a saint in 1934.
