Saint Rita Magnet
Saint Rita of Cascia, born in 1381 in Italy, was an Augustinian nun. She married a violent man at a young age who was eventually murdered. Her two sons, outraged by their father's death, wanted to avenge his murder. Saint Rita asked God to take them too, so that they would not commit mortal sin. Her request was granted. A widow and alone, she wanted to enter the monastery of the Augustinian nuns, but her request was refused because they only accepted single women. One night, while she was sleeping, in an apparition, Saint Augustine, Saint Nicholas and Saint John the Baptist asked her to follow them and took her into the monastery, and so the Augustinian nuns accepted her. Saint Rita is the saint of impossible and desperate cases.
