Our Lady of Agony is an invocation by which Mary, the mother of Jesus, is venerated. In the mid-19th century, an image of Our Lady of Agony arrived at the Chapel of Bom Jesus do Santo Sepulcro do Calvário (currently named after the Saint), in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. The growing devotion of believers, especially fishermen from Portugal and Galicia, led to a large-scale pilgrimage, celebrated in August.
