Our Lady of Lapa Magnet

Our Lady of Lapa is a representation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1498, a young girl named Joana, who was mute from birth, found an image of the saint hidden in a cave. The image had apparently been left there around five hundred years earlier by religious sisters who were being persecuted by the military.

Given the devotion and affection that the girl showed him, Our Lady granted her the gift of speech.

Today, there is a sanctuary there, which attracts many pilgrims.
The feast of Our Lady of Lapa is celebrated on 15 August.
