Saint Joseph lying down symbolizes the moment in which the revelation of Jesus' coming into the world is made by God, in order to calm the heart of Joseph, Jesus' earthly father.

When Our Lady became pregnant, by the grace of God, Saint Joseph, not understanding the depth of the Almighty's plans, thought about leaving her.

Joseph's anguish was so great that, during his sleep, God sent the Angel Gabriel in a dream to reassure him and ask him not to be afraid, because the son that his wife Mary was expecting was the fruit of the Holy Spirit and would have an important mission here on Earth.

After the revelation of divine plans, Saint Joseph humbly accepted his mission and dedicated his life to caring for the baby Jesus and Our Lady, thus contributing to the salvation of us all.
