Our Lady of Loreto alludes to the surprising story about the Santa Casa, Our Lady's Home, in Nazareth, in the Holy Land, where She lived when the Angel Gabriel announced to her that she would conceive of the Holy Spirit and where the baby Jesus grew up and lived his childhood.

In the 13th century, faced with the Muslim threat to Christian holy places, God, with the help of the Angels, miraculously transported the house to Croatia, and later to Loreto, in Italy.

Inside there was an image of Our Lady, with the baby in her arms.
