San Juan Diego Magnet

Juan Diego was an Indian from Mexico City whose name was Cuauhtlatoatzin – 'talking eagle'.

Juan Diego was a dedicated and pious peasant who converted to Christianity, attracted by the attitude and teachings of the Franciscans.

He was a pilgrim, a loner, and his faith was lived with fervor to the point of sacrifice.

He was blessed with the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe who asked him to build a church there.

As a way of proving that vision, he picked flowers, at the request of Our Lady, and when he gave them to the bishop, upon opening his tunic, an image of the Virgin Mary appeared.
